FAQs

Booking and Walking

First you need to look at which kind of walk you are interested in taking – and make contact to discuss your requirements. Once everything is agreed we will send you a booking invoice for payment. Then we’ll confirm everything in advance of the walk date, and look forward to seeing you then!

While Goode Walks is based in Essex and our primary focus is leading walks in East Anglia and the South East of England, we’re happy to discuss any proposals for one-day or multi-day guided walks or trips anywhere in the UK. Please drop us a line with your thoughts!

There are no minimum age restrictions for our range of Walks – provided that anyone under 18 is accompanied by and supervised by a parent or legal guardian at all times. We encourage and are very happy to have family parties booking with Goode Walks!

Our Corporate Walks are only for adults, and we would discuss this with the booking organisation in advance. Please make contact if you have a query.

Our Navigation Walks are only for those aged 12 and over – but anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian

Our standard maximum group size for a Guided Walk or any other of our Walks or Corporate Walks is 12 people. However, we may be able to organise taking out larger groups with enough advance notice by arranging for extra walk leaders to help supervise the party. Please make contact to discuss your specific requirements.

When you make a booking we ask participants to complete a booking registration form which includes a health declaration, allowing you to give us plenty of information about any medical conditions and stating that you are fit enough and in good enough health to take part in the agreed walk.

We want to help everyone possible to get outdoors and enjoy themselves; and we run Health & Fitness Walks for that specific purpose too.

If you have any regular medications, then you’ll need to bring them with you on the day of your Goode Walk.

With every booking we send out a kit list to participants, tailored to the time of year, location and terrain being walked in.

The short answer is no, we don’t offer an accommodation booking service. However, if you’re coming to our area to take a Guided Walk, or participate in a Corporate Walk, or we are organising a Multi-Day Walk for you then we will most definitely give you advice on places to book, and sources of local booking information.

All Goode Walks are run by owner Julian Goode. If a group is booked on that is larger than our maximum size of 12 people, then we would incorporate extra walk leaders as required.

When you make your Goode Walk booking we supply all the necessary pre-walk information, including a Walk Outline that has full details of where and when to meet, walk start time, Google Maps link, postcode where available for satnav use, OS Maps grid reference and a What3Words link too. And parking information as well for the start/finish point.

General queries

Sorry, our general rule is no dogs. We have to be careful of livestock and farmland habitats with crops and ground-nesting birds that are encountered on the majority of our walks. In some circumstances we may allow you to bring a dog on a group walk, if everyone else in the party is known to you, so we can be sure that none of the other walkers will be nervous or apprehensive around them. But your dog would need to be well behaved, insured and kept on a lead at all times. Please make contact to ask in advance for clarity.

Yes we do! Our guided walks are bespoke – and booked directly with Goode Walks in response to individual requirements.

But we launched a calendar of dated and timed Event Walks for individuals & groups to book on during summer 2022. Please sign up to our Newsletter below to keep up to date with our plans.

Your scheduled and booked Goode Walk will run whatever the weather. But we all need to be aware of bad weather (in terms of rain) and have the appropriate wet-weather gear in our kit for the day; or overly ‘good’ weather (in terms of extreme heat and sun), and come prepared with adequate sun protection: sunhat, sunglasses, sun cream/sun block, and cold drinks.

Only if there is extreme weather causing potential risk to walk participants would the walk be cancelled.

Cancellations

All cancellation requests must be confirmed in writing by email to Goode Walks by the person who made the booking. If you cancel 14 days or less in advance of the walk or activity that you have booked, Goode Walks will be unable to refund any money paid when the booking was made. We will, however, offer you the opportunity to book a walk or activity of the same value on an alternative day, as agreed by Goode Walks, during the subsequent 12 months at no additional charge. Any cancellation refund agreed and made by Goode Walks will be sent to you within 14 days. If you have already transferred your activity booking to a new date, and then wish to cancel that, no refund will be given.

If Goode Walks has to unfortunately cancel your booking, then Goode Walks will not be liable for any additional costs or expenses incurred as a result of this, but we will pay you a full refund of your activity booking fee as soon as possible. We will also offer you a free transfer of your activity to an agreed new date, in case if you prefer to do that in lieu of a refund.

If you are unable to attend the walk you have booked for whatever reason and want to rearrange and transfer your booking to another date, agreed by Goode Walks, we will make every effort to accommodate you so long as we receive written or emailed confirmation from the person that made the booking – at least 48 hours ahead of the scheduled activity date. Any such transfer is limited to one free transfer per activity booking. Any subsequent transfers are subject to an additional payment of 50 per cent of the cost of the activity booked.
